A highly clickable thumbnail usually has the following features:

• A happy, exaggerated, or silly headshot
• Bright stand out colors
• BIG text related to the keyword
• Sometimes: graphics, arrows, etc. that call attention

Try to avoid too much text or clutter. Small text is useless and too much going on is confusing.
